On March 12, 2009 Kyler was honored to accept the highly prestigious award by Equal Rights Washington, the Marsha Botzer Advocacy Award. This award was established to recognize individuals whom work tirelessly in the LGBT community for equality. Marsha said this about the award, "It is my honor to recognize and welcome new leaders and workers into our project of full equality. This year's recipients embody the unwavering courage it takes to stand up to injustice and inequality."
In 2009, Kyler was honored as a "hero" in the Seattle LGBT community. This award was established by Seattle Out and Proud (SOaP) to recognize those in the community working to change minds and attitudes towards the LGBT community. Kyler commented about the occasion, "Pride is always a fun time of year. It's the one time everyone can come together and celebrate who they are without societal judgment and persecution. As a member of the LGBT community, I can stand prideful of who I am."
Kyler was honored to accept the newly created "Cowardly Lion" award. Award presenter, Terry McMahan underscored the importance of this honor, "This award was created to recognize members who work tirelessly in the community to make a difference and further the LGBT movement. The Cowardly Lion represents strength and vitality." Side note: Seattle is often referred to as the "Emerald City" and SMC is managed by "Flying House Productions".
